Kite Aerial Photography
Submitted By Jennifer Heroux Photos By Courtesy of Cris Benton
Using kite aerial photography (KAP), photographer Cris Benton has been keeping an incredible visual record of the South Bay salt ponds and wetlands. Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to see his fascinating images and to learn more about how they are made. In the first hour, Cris will introduce us to a history of aerial photography, his current work and what it reveals to us about the landscape we live in. In the second hour, we'll move outdoors for a kite photography demonstration. Please note: Public kite flying is not permitted at the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge. Cris Benton works under special permit with the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
Benson explained that he "will be giving an illustrated talk that covers the notion of KAP in general and my application of the technique in documenting the South Bay landscape. If weather permits we will then adjourn outdoors to launch a kite and take photographs." For directions or more information, please call (408) 262-5513 x106.
