Citizen Police Academy to begin in Newark

Submitted By Terri Hernandez

The next Academy is scheduled to begin February 25, 2009. Sessions will be held every Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 7 weeks.

Participants will meet primarily at the Silliman Activity Center (6800 Mowry Avenue), although a few sessions require meeting at other local venues. Our goal is to provide the community with a "behind the scenes" look at our department through a series of lectures, demonstrations, tours, and hands-on exercises. Participant requirements: 1) minimum age of 21 years old; 2) live or work in the City of Newark; 3) no prior felony convictions; and 4) no misdemeanor arrests within three years of application.

For more information or to have an application mailed to you, please contact Terri Hernandez at (510) 578-4352. Download an application at http://www.newark.org/Newark/PDF/Police/CPA_Application.pdf
