Citibank grant goes to family resource center
Submitted By Christine LaBadie
Fremont Family Resource Center (FRC) received a $10,000 grant from Citibank Corporation on Thursday, February 12, 2009. These funds will be used to bolster FRC's rapidly growing Family Economic Success Program. A long-term supporter of FRC, Citibank's current grant will be used for free tax preparation service to low-income individuals and families through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA); Money$mart, a 10-module financial education program created by FDIC; Money Management and Credit Repair workshops; financial counseling for individuals and families and, new this year, Foodstamp outreach efforts and enrollment clinics.
Not only has Citibank contributed financially to FRC programs, but in the last several years, Citibank employees have voluntarily worked for FRC's tax preparation service and taught several Money$mart classes. It is these partnerships with community businesses that help the FRC strengthen Tri-City families. |
