Letter to the Editor: A's plan is a boondoggle
I live in Fremont and have done a very informal survey of the proposed A's plan for a new stadium. With the exception of a handful of fans who were attended the A's infomercial at Fremont City Hall, no one wants this stadium built in either of the two sites currently suggested. This whole boondoggle is being pushed by a city council that seems desperate to put their names on some massive structure despite what the citizens (tax payers) want. The whole current stadium plan is ill-conceived and ill-advised.
I have a suggestion: San Jose is convinced that the only way they can be a grown-up city is to have a major league ball team and have already expressed a desire to have the A's. Even going so far as to demand that the team be named the San Jose A's when Fremont was first approached with this move. It also now looks like the Tesla /San Jose deal may have fallen through. Let's trade: San Jose can have the A's with all the traffic and minimum wage jobs. Fremont will welcome the Tesla plant near the new BART station with its more than 500 well-paying jobs. How about it?
