Chabot Lady Gladiators running on empty
By Idorenyin Uto-Uko
Chabot College Lady Gladiators have played less like fierce gladiators this season and more like an erratic squad just scraping to get by.
Chabot (12-13, 3-4) is lead by the triple threat of Rose Thompson, Dezzirae Cafferata and Sequoyah Reed.
The three were successful while playing on the same high school team at Westmoor High in Daly City. They have not managed to mirror the same accolades for their team at Chabot. The Gladiators are playing see-saw basketball. They win one game, and then lose the next.
The group played exceptionally well in a 64-58 win against North division Coast Conference rival San Jose City, and in a 75-39 victory versus sister college, Los Positas, on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
In the Los Positas game, Thompson had 23 points; freshman Monica Gracia chipped in with 19 points. Chabot would end the week with a loss to College of San Mateo on Friday, Feb. 6, 75-58.
Head Coach Don Queyrel asserts that his team needs to start to play more consistently if they are going to have chance at playing in the postseason.
Chabot will play Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. at home against Monterey Peninsula. The team has a bye on Friday night, and will resume next Wednesday, Feb. 18, with their last home game, against Skyline. |
