Sunol Glen hosts science fair

Competition was intense among 60 students as presentations were evaluated during the Sunol Glen Science Fair held on the evening of Thursday January 8. Six students were selected to continue competing at the county level next month. An "all you can eat" spaghetti dinner was held the same evening to support a trip for 7th grade students to Washington, D.C.

The six seventh grade students and the subjects of their projects selected to represent Sunol Glen School at the Tri-Valley Science Fair are:

Paige Arcieri: "Recycled Clothing"
Bessie Barnes: "Why do Objects Float?"
Brandon Char-Lee: "Thar She Blows - What Makes a Pipe Organ Accurate?"
Drake Madrid: "Guitars and Sound Waves"
Halie Sonnenschein: "Is Sugar Free A Healthy Alternative? The Effect of Liquids on Teeth"
Sara Brown: "The Perfect Balance (Osmosis and Eggs)"


Honorable Mention:

Carlos Cabrera: "What Will Work Better As A Rocket Fuel?"
Taylor Harris: "Buoyancy - How Does It Work?"
Emma Peppler: "Stains: What Detergent Removes Stains Best?"


Awards were also given to sixth grade students:

First Place Award (Tie):
Amy Bravo: "Ants Have Taste Preferences"
Christina Lee: "Which OJ Has the Most Vitamin C?"

Second Place Award:.
Kristi Ocon: "Levitating Trains"

Third Place Award:
Derek Nelson: "Jump of Doom".
