Rotarians warm up winter chill
Members of the Rotary Club of Mission San Jose gathered for their traditional holiday party but this time, instead of a gift exchange with each other, they helped Santa bring joy to others. Pooling money that they ordinarily would spend on their party and gifts, they commissioned super shopper Juanita Gilmore and her trusty sidekick (husband) Norris to stretch $600 as far as it would go to purchase children's clothing to combat winter chills and warm the holidays.
On Friday, November 19, the club gathered at Mission Hills Gallery to send good cheer to each other and marvel at Juanita's shopping prowess. Almost every dollar was doubled in value as sweaters and other clothing were displayed and then presented to Executive Director Rodney Clark of Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments (SAVE).
This example of community outreach is only one of the many projects that brighten the holiday season for all of us. Rotarians and other service groups throughout the world work tirelessly during all months of the year to help their communities and all people live in a better world. |
