Snow White comes to the Rainbow Theatre

By Meenu Gupta

"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:/ Its loveliness increases; it will never/Pass into nothingness;" when John Keats wrote that he was talking about tales that have been told and retold down the generations, but never lose their charm. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one such fairy tale coming to town to entertain and reaffirm the victory of good over evil.

Sponsored by Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is produced by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois. The Milpitas Rainbow Theatre performance is adapted from a book by Tim Kelly and the music and lyrics are by Bill Francoeur. "A cast of 24, ages ranging from 8-17 have been rehearsing for 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' since the end of October. For some of the cast, this will be the first time performing in live theatre. All school performances have been sold out for weeks," said Mei-Wan Chai, Program Assistant.

Lauren Alvear plays the lead role of the beautiful and kind- hearted Snow White. Rachel Hall represents the Crone. Karyne Roy is the Queen with Sheena Kim, Patricia Sobczyk, Stephanie Parrish and Cortney Hyde as bats. Alec Grambow is the Prince. Caretha Richardson, Krystal Quiocho, Katie Alvear, Joaquin Gallegos, Philip Lamdin, Kaitlyn Liversedge, Sarah Lamdin are in the role of dwarfs. Justin Weiss and Alyssa Bennett play the role of cats.
