December 17, 2008 > Optimists host pizza for special students Optimists host pizza for special students Submitted By Marla Blowers On Wednesday, Dec. 10th, the Newark Optimists hosted their annual Christmas Pizza Party for the Special Education students and the staff from American, Washington, and Newark Memorial high schools at Shaker's Pizza in Fremont. Just as the kids finished their pizza, salads and sodas, who should appear, but dear Santa Claus. This year, and for the past several years, Santa was played by Optimist member and Newark Board of Education member Ray Rodriguez. Students offered entertainment for the event by singing and signing Christmas carols. Everyone had a wonderful time together enjoying the spirit of the Holiday season.
