James Logan loses two
By Giovanni Albanese Jr.
James Logan High School girls soccer team had an unsuccessful week, losing both games - Irvington (Dec. 9) and Amador Valley (Dec. 13).
The Lady Colts took on Irvington on Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Mission Valley Athletic League (MVAL) play. Outstanding play by Irvington's keeper and two opportune runs, which led to goals, were the difference in this contest. Logan managed to net one, but couldn't equalize, as Irvington's back line was too tough. The Lady Colts dropped a tight one, 2-1.
They next took the field on Saturday, Dec. 13, versus a tough Amador Valley team. Entering the contest, Amador sported a record of 3-0-0 while the Lady Colts (0-4-2) were still in search of their first win of the young season.
Amador jumped out to a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the game. They added three more in the first half, going into halftime with a 4-0 advantage. Logan changed keepers for the second half, from Luisa Cardenas to Preslee Rivera. Rivera performed well in the net, only allowing one goal. However, it was too little, too late. The Lady Colts couldn't chip into the lead, and lost, 5-0.
Next up for the 0-5-2 Lady Colts is on Thursday, Dec. 18, against MVAL rival, Mission San Jose, at 6 p.m. |
