Blaze, an FC Fremont U-14 Boys House League soccer team, was smoking hot at this past weekend's Director's Cup Tournament held in Fremont's Central Park. The team won first place, defeating a very strong Ice team in the championship game.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, Blaze competed against two strong teams. In the first game they defeated the Dragons, 8-2; in the second, they beat Super Nova, 6-1.
Blaze continued their hot streak on Sunday, Nov. 16, against two very competitive teams. Once again, Blaze played two phenomenal games. First, against Galaxy, in which they came away with a 3-0 victory; then the last game of the championship was indeed a show stopper as Blaze melted the Ice with a 2-1 championship win.
The game between the two champions was an electrifying competition of two giants, both equally strong and hungry for first place. However, in the end, Blaze broke a 1-1 tie with a goal by Kevin Wong. Blaze is indeed a perfect definition of a team where every player is as valuable and strong as the next. The team won the first-place ranking with the extraordinary group effort of the whole team.
The fantastic team members, Arman Chini, Kazbir Dhillon, Jacob Dutra, Adrian Fuentes, Ryan Habibi, Ruvan Jayaweera, Brandon Kuang, Joshua Lee, Angel Lopez, Clayton Mapelli, Nevan Murphy, Raul Puri, Ankit Shah, Douglas Terry, Kevin Wong and Andrew Yin worked phenomenally together as a unit under the direction of their superb Coach Pat Mapelli, and outstanding assistant coaches, Santiago Lee and Nelson Fuentes.
With the continued support from Blaze parents, the team is planning to compete in the Crossroad Tournaments on the weekend of November 22-23.
