Chipotle Mexican Grill opens in Great Mall
Submitted By Andrea Jackson
Chipotle Mexican Grill opened its 29th Bay Area restaurant, on October 24th in Milpitas' Great Mall of America. The Great Mall is Northern California's largest mall, home to 200 retail stores and restaurants, with Chipotle located at the mall's Entrance 2. Great Mall visitors and area locals now have a new destination for an exceptional, affordable meal made with high quality ingredients including naturally raised meats, hormone-free dairy products, and increasingly more locally sourced produce.
Chipotle's new Great Mall of America restaurant serves naturally raised pork, chicken, and beef from animals raised in a humane way, never given antibiotics or added hormones, and fed a pure vegetarian diet with no animal by-products. In addition, all of the dairy Chipotle serves is made with milk from cows that are never treated with the synthetic hormone rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone), and an increasing percentage of the beans it serves are organically grown.
As part of Chipotle's locally sourced initiative, the new restaurant also benefits from the company's relationships with local farmers and its commitment to sourcing 25 percent of at least one of its produce items from small and mid-sized local farms. It's all part of Chipotle's vision to serve what founder, chairman, and CEO Steve Ells calls "Food With Integrity," a pledge that has the company working with like-minded sources to help it serve food that is raised with care, not chemicals.
