November 5, 2008 > Boomers defeat Deja Blue in season finale Boomers defeat Deja Blue in season finale Submitted By Blaise Castren Boomers, an FC Fremont Under-14 Girls House League soccer team, completed its regular season with a convincing 5-1 victory over Deja Blue on Saturday, Nov. 1. Jenna Wondka scored two goals, while Elena Strom added a goal and an assist to lead the Boomers. Wondka tallied the first goal from a bad angle, and then Strom followed with her tally shortly thereafter. Boomer's goalie, Samantha Stephens, recorded three saves in the first half as the Boomers went to intermission with a 2-0 edge. Ashley Campbell made it 3-0 early in the second half, then Cindy Tafolla scored on a Strom assist, and Wondka tallied her second goal on a pass from Raquel Rodas. Claire Castren and Eva Liu had solid games on defense while Amy de Landa and Katie Courville were excellent passing the ball. The Boomers, who improved to 5-6-1, return to action at the Directors Cup on November 15-16.
