Milpitas Library scheduled to close, move, open

Submitted By Linda Arbaugh

The Milpitas Library will close to the public starting Monday, November 3, to move to its new location at 160 N. Main Street, Milpitas. The move will take approximately six weeks.

No library materials will be due during the closed time. Due dates on books checked out now are being extended so that patrons can return their books to the new library and not accrue fines. Starting Monday, October 27, materials that check out for a week will have their due dates extended as well. Even though the materials will not be due during the library move, the book drop at the old library will be open until a book drop is available at the new location.

Patrons who receive notices that their holds are in and available may pick them up at the old library. They will be in the library's community room and may be checked out Tuesday through Saturday from 2 - 6 p.m. Patrons must have their library cards.

Patrons will still have access to the library's catalog and databases at www.santaclaracountylib.org

For questions about their accounts, patrons may call (800)293-2326 ext. 3030 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The grand opening for the new library is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2009. The library expects to have a "soft" opening sometime in late December. The exact date will be determined earlier that month.

For more information, call the library at (408) 262-1171, or check the website at www.santaclaracountylib.org/milpitas
