Eagle Scout project completed
Submitted By Nelson Kirk
Ryan Natividad from Troop 110 finished his Eagle Scout Project at San Andreas Park on September 27th and 28th. Ryan and his team planted 23 California native trees; 10 Valley Oaks (Quercus lobata) and 13 California buckeyes (Aesculus californica). These trees will enhance, protect and beautify the old ancient riparian corridor of the Alameda Creek section at San Andreas Park in Union City.
The Boy Scouts of America play a big role in improving our wildlife environment within our park system as well as learning about park maintenance operations. These young men are community builders and their parents are very supportive of our community. We appreciate their hard work and volunteerism.
Ryan and his team added fi-bar (recycled wood chips) to an existing fitness course, installing two owl nesting boxes, repairing a sunken irrigation valve box, patching an asphalt trail, reseeding a lawn, spreading wood chips, repairing a creek trail sign and installing two new BBQ's. Ryan's project will improve the parks appearance and help protect wildlife. Ryan was assisted in this project by William Bontadelli of the City of Union City Public Works.
