Annual Juried Photography Exhibit
By Emma Victoria G. Blanco
Fremont Cultural Arts Council (FCAC) supports the practice and enjoyment of the fine arts in the Fremont community. The Council sponsors local activities such as art in the schools and provides a "clearinghouse" for the Arts and other charitable and non-profit activities. This year the FCAC - with the assistance of the City of Fremont Recreation Services and the Alameda County Libraries - is sponsoring the 15th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition, which will take place November 7th - December 5th at the Fremont Main Library.
Fremont residents and members of Fremont photography clubs are invited to enter their photographs for consideration. Interested photographers may submit entries to the FCAC office (3375 Country Drive, Fremont) between October 10th and 12th. Submissions must be framed photographs, ready for hanging, and must be accompanied by completed entry forms and a small $5 entry fee per submitted photo. The fee will go toward basic materials cost, honorariums for the judges, and prizes awarded to winners. Entry forms which outline additional entry criteria are available at the following locations:
FCAC office (Hours: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. weekdays) Fremont Recreation Services, 3350 Capitol Avenue Fremont libraries and many photo counters FCAC website: http://fcac.tricityinternet.org/
A panel of three judges from outside the community will select photographs to be displayed at the Exhibit as well as determine Merit Award winners who will receive cash prizes. The 15th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition Opening Night Reception is open to the public and will be held on Friday, November 7th, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Fukaya Room of the Fremont Main Library. The exhibit will continue from November 10th through December 5th during regular library hours showcased in the first-floor reading area.
As the exhibit is entirely staffed by volunteers, the FCAC is looking for individuals interested in assisting. For more information about volunteering in the Juried Photo Show or other FCAC sponsored events and local arts community projects, contact Exhibit Chairman Jason Cheng at (510) 683-9536 or visit the FCAC website (http://fcac.tricityinternet.org/). |
