Viola Blythe Center needs storage space

Submitted By Debbie "Blythe" Caravalho

The Viola Blythe Community Service Center serves over 6,000 people in the Tri-City area each year distributing food, clothes, diapers, school supplies and much more without charge to all in need. In these tough economic times, the center has been asked to help an increasing number of families while donations have decreased. Even with major budget cuts, a large monthly expense is for rental of a classroom from the Newark Unified School District as an off-site storage facility for food and toys.

Donation of storage space (at least 1,500 sq. ft.) would solve this problem. The space will be used not only for storage but also to sort food and wrap gifts during the holiday season. A one year commitment is required. The space can be used as a tax write-off for the owner.

If you can help, please call Debbie Caravalho, Executive Director, at (510) 794-3437.
