District names new Chief Business Officer
Submitted By Rick LaPlante
Ted Hood, who has 15 years of school business management and administrative experience and 14 years of experience in accounting, has been hired as Chief Business Officer of the New Haven Unified School District.
"In New Haven, the Chief Business Officer must be able to manage multiple departments, not only the day-to-day business operation, but transportation, maintenance and operations, food services and a variety of other responsibilities, including bond management and construction," Superintendent Dr. Pat Jaurequi said. Ted Hood has the qualifications to manage all of those areas and the experience to do it in an expert fashion.
Mr. Hood spent the past 5 1/2 years in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, where he was Senior Director for Bond Finance and served as both Interim CBO and Interim Director of Information Technology. He previously served as Director of Budget for the San Francisco Unified School District, Assistant Superintendent for Business Services in the Cupertino Union Elementary School District, and Director of Finance in the Shasta Union High School District. Before that, Mr. Hood worked as certified public accountant, including six years as owner of his own firm.
Mr. Hood replaces Carol Gregorich, who retired after a 15-year career in New Haven, where she helped the District, minimize the financial impact of declining enrollment and state budget reductions, and maximize resources for teaching and learning.
We knew we were going to have to find someone who could fill some pretty big shoes when Carol announced her retirement, Associate Superintendent for Personnel Derek McNamara said. "Ted made it very clear that he's capable of doing that."
A native of Southern California, Mr. Hood is a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona. He and his wife have three children and seven grandchildren.
