Pass the Olympic torch
By Dustin Findley
Yellow River Chinese School had a lot to celebrate on Sunday, June 15, and who knows if Father's Day was even on the agenda. This was the last day of school with a very special graduation ceremony - a miniature Olympics. Students and parents got to hold and pose with the actual Olympic torch then ran a relay in which the torch was passed so students could experience the Olympics first hand.
The celebration started in the Washington High School amphitheater in Fremont, where each class took a class picture with the torch. Parents formed their own little paparazzi circle in front of the stage and snapped away. Pictures from San Francisco Olympic event in April were also on display. The torch was the "actual torch" from the Chinese "Council General," according to Ivy Wu. She said it the very same torch that "disappeared" from San Francisco back in April.
