Join Uncle Sam and Charlie Chaplin to celebrate July 6th in Niles
Submitted By Keith Elrod
Enjoy an old fashioned family good time in Niles this weekend. Stroll through quaint stores and restaurants and join in hourly prize drawings as you munch on free popcorn and kids sport free tattoos (temporary!). Charlie and Sam will be around for free photo opportunities and the Essanay Silent Film Museum will show Chaplin movies for a buck at noon and 2 p.m. Help the town when it asks, "Where's Charlie?"
Your Niles adventure can begin with a train ride through Niles Canyon on the Niles Canyon Railway Celebrity Special that leaves Sunol at 10:30 a.m. and arrives in Niles at 11 a.m. It is rumored that Charlie and Sam may be aboard. Tickets are available 30 minutes before departure. Visit www.ncry.org for more information.
Make you post-July 4 weekend with a fun day in a classic town with hometown flair. Festivities for children of all ages are scheduled from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. For directions to Niles (Fremont) and additional information, visit www.niles.org or call (510) 742-9868. |
