On Saturday, June 28th from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Union City Leisure Services and Green Oak Developmental Centers will be holding their first Health and Fitness Expo for youth and adults with developmental disabilities. This event will be held at the Union City Sports Center.
Obesity is an epidemic that is affecting more people in the world today and it is especially prevalent in the special needs population. Lack of exercise, poor eating habits, and the lack of proper care are causing children and adults with special needs to gain weight at an alarming rate. The main goal of this Expo will be to provide activities and information that will give this special population the tools they need to reduce obesity and live a healthier lifestyle.
Some of the activities planned for this Expo include: An exercise class geared towards Special Needs participants; Free healthy living and eating information; Info on Special Olympics programs and other special needs programs; Entertainment and Free health conscious goody bags.
