Cultural Celebration and Honoring of Our Abuelitos
By Ethan Chou
In commemoration of both their cultural heritage and the accomplishments of New Haven Adult School graduates, members of the local community in Union City are gathering on June 10 for a cultural celebration and potluck.
Featuring local musicians, artists, and folk dancers in the tradition of Central Mexico, all ages are welcome to participate in this exciting event. There will also be face painting for younger visitors, as well as a drumming circle for peace. With colorful, vibrant costumes and traditional forms of artistic expression, performers will simultaneously entertain and enlighten viewers concerning a rich cultural history and lifestyle. Using lyric, poetic, and physical art, this event hopes to strengthen and celebrate the Mexican culture here in one of the most diverse cities in the United States.
Celebration of Central Mexico Tuesday, June 10 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. New Haven Adult School 600 G St., Union City (510) 489-2343 |
