Blanco In December 2007, 13 year old Korrine Croghan (a local avid swimmer and water polo player) was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma, a cancer that develops from germ cells which normally become sperm or eggs. Choriocarcinomas are considered to be one of the most dangerous germ cell cancers because they usually grow quickly and spread widely. They are usually treated by surgical removal of the tumor and chemotherapy, and Croghan has already received several rounds of latter. To help and support her as she continues to battle the inimitable cancer, Croghan's friends and family have formed Team KC. One of Team KC's supporters is Fremont Swim School, which is sponsoring a fund raiser to raise much needed funds for Croghan. Each of the four Fremont Swim School locations (see addresses below) is currently holding raffles through June 7th, when, at noon, each school will randomly draw three winners. The prizes are: Gold Prize: Free Swim Lessons for a year and a birthday party at school's location, 2nd Prize: $200 gift certificate toward swim lessons, 3rd Prize: A pair of Oakland A's Field Box tickets and a parking pass. Donations of cash are appreciated and checks (made out to Team KC) are graciously accepted at any of the school locations.
