Spark creativity with Fremont writing group

Submitted By Bob Garfinkle

The Fremont Area Writers' Club, the Fremont Branch of AAUW and the South Bay Branch of the California Writers' Club are sponsoring an Open Mic at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Fremont on Thursday, May 15, from 7 - 9 p.m. We meet near the History/Technology section in the back of the store. You will be given five to 10 minutes to read. If you do not want to read, sit back and have fun listening to others read, have a cup of coffee, etc. An Open Mic session is an opportunity for authors to try out their material before a live audience. We will be holding Open Mic sessions on the third Thursday of each month at this same time and location. The Open Mic is free and open to the public with no reservations needed.

The Fremont Area Writers' Club will also be having a club meeting on Saturday, May 17, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Mountain Mike's Pizza in Fremont. Local author Betty Auchard will be a guest speaker at this meeting. She will be discussing her memoirs on surviving widowhood and how her memoir became a national finalist for books published by small presses. The meeting is open to the public; however, a donation of $5 is requested. The meeting will be held in one of the back room of Mountain Mike's Pizza in the Brookvale Shopping Center.

For more information, call Bob Garfinkle at (510) 489-4779.
