Washington Hospital, Cisco and the Oakland A's Team Up for First Annual Health Care Grand Slam
Step into the future of medical technology, learn how to create healthy meals from top chefs, meet current A's players and step up to the "plate" to receive free health screenings at the First Annual "Health Care Grand Slam" sponsored by Washington Hospital Healthcare System, and Cisco Field, the future home of the A's. The event will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Washington West at 2500 Mowry Ave in Fremont.
"We're excited to partner with Cisco and the A's in providing an opportunity for the community to learn ways to improve their overall health and learn about the latest health-related technology that has the potential of providing tremendous benefits to our patients," says Nancy Farber, Washington Hospital Healthcare System CEO. "This event serves as an example of how three very different organizations can work together to create a healthy, fun and informative event for families in our community."
Free Health Screenings
Washington Hospital will offer free blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, body fat/BMI and lung capacity health screenings; and the Washington On Wheels Mobile Health Clinic (W.O.W.) will give tours and give free bicycle helmets to children who attend the event. Physicians from the Washington Hospital medical staff will also be available to answer your health related questions.
"We believe that giving back to local communities is an essential aspect of corporate social responsibility," said David Holland, senior vice president and treasurer, Cisco. "One of the benefits of the Cisco/A's partnership is the opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact in the Bay Area, and in this case the community of Fremont, through sponsorship of events like this fair with Washington Hospital."
Experience the Future of Medical Technology
Cisco's interactive booth will include a glimpse of future medical technology with a demonstration of the Cisco HealthPresence solution that uses market-ready advanced technologies and lets doctors perform basic checkups and talk to you "face to face" from thousands of miles away. Chefs from Bon App?tit will also take part in cooking demonstrations that will show you how to prepare quick and healthy meals.
"Washington Hospital and Cisco are leaders in their industries -- and leaders in the community," stated A's owner Lew Wolff. "We are honored to partner with them on this event to provide free health screenings and promote healthy living."
Meet Current A's Players and Test Your Fastball!
Oakland A's players, team owners and A's mascot "Stomper" will be on hand giving away game tickets, caps and t-shirts and autographed items. Participants will be able to throw baseballs inside a radar-equipped pitching cage as well.
