Collected and smashed soda cans that were exchanged for cash and donated to two Tri-City families inspired Delain Eastin Elementary School student Connor Uomoto to write about his story and join the "Do A Good Deed" essay contest.
Uomoto, age 10 and a fifth grade student at his school in Union City, was announced as the third winner of the nationwide "Do A Good Deed" essay contest sponsored by Fremont dentist Dr. Colin Yoshida, DDS, on April 24. Joined by principal John Mattos, teacher Mr. Reyes, and Mr. & Mrs. Uomoto, Connor gladly accepted a certificate and his brand new desktop computer as a grand prize for his essay.
"Everyday is an opportunity for us to contribute and do something good for another person; it can be a friend, a family member or even a stranger you have not met before. Those little things that we do for them can create a big impact and ripples out a positive effect to the community." Said Yoshida.
Yoshida will continue to accept essay entries from youth under te age of 18 in to find the next good deed story and award another computer.
