Hayward Earth Day festival
Submitted By Erik Pearson
In honor of the 39th annual observation of Earth Day, the City of Hayward will celebrate by hosting an Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the Hayward City Hall Plaza and in City Hall. Exhibitors will be on hand to share environmental and educational activities for children of all ages as well as adults. Opening remarks will be made by Mayor Michael Sweeney and presentations such as "Change a Light Bulb, Save a Polar Bear" will be made periodically throughout the day.
Leading up to the event, the city is also sponsoring a student multi-media presentation contest. The theme of the contest is "I Am One Person, But I Can Make a Big Difference." Contest winners will have the opportunity to present their winning entries the day of the event. The event promises to be a day of fun for the entire family.
