April 16, 2008 > Arbor Day celebration Arbor Day celebration Submitted By Sue May The City of Fremont will celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday, April 19, at 9:30 a.m. at Mattos Elementary School in Fremont. This year's Arbor Day celebration will include planting a total of 55 trees on Farewell Drive between Central Avenue and Eggers Drive, including in front of Mattos Elementary School where the ceremony will be held. Founded by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska in 1872, Arbor Day is a nationally celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care.
