The Mission San Jose Little League Junior Red Sox, off to a 5-1 start this season, pounded out 15 hits in a 13-7 win over the Niles-Centerville Pirates. Ian Dickerson led the hitting barrage going 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI's. Charles Guan, Corbin Lee and Jeff Chu each chipped in two hits for the Red Sox. Patrick Yang's two-run triple broke the game open in the third.
The Red Sox also topped the Mets, 9-5, thanks to a six-run, fifth inning rally that saw Guan, Lee, Stuart Rosete and Chris Lo collect hits. Lo took the mound with the Red Sox trailing 5-2 and held the Mets scoreless over the next four innings.
The A's relied on strong pitching from Matt Eike and Kyle Welker to win two games. Sam Sanchez, Alex Scott and Andrew Chang contributed multiple hit games. Aditya Ganesh also provided clutch hitting.
The Mets rallied with five runs in the fifth to stop the White Sox 8-6. Eric Gonzalez brought home the tying and winning runs with a single. Vince Rojas and Patrick Andersen banged out two hits each for the White Sox. The Mets also downed the A's 16-8 with a nine-run, seventh inning attack. Aaron Ferrell and Morgan Gustas led the Mets' offense.
Rojas and Tim Tang scattered three A's hits in an 8-3 White Sox win. Rojas contributed two hits, and Shub Agrawal drove in a pair of runs with a single. In another encounter, Dustin Koliner's based-loaded triple led the White Sox past the A's 11-2.
Giants' pitchers Cade Nauman, Chris Zhang and James Gaffey crafted a no-hitter in a 4-0 win over the Cubs. Nauman struck out seven in three innings. The offense was powered by a pair of singles from Darien Lo, a single, an RBI and a run scored from Jordan Terbeek, and an RBI single from Terrence Hu. Gaffey also doubled while Matthew Tang added a single for the Giants. Nikhil Menon played heads-up defense for the Cubs and Jonathan Chen made a superb catch in left field.
Hu's gusty relief performance held off the Yankees in a 6-4 Giants' win. Hu came in with the bases loaded and struck out two to end the game. Center fielder, Nick Mason's terrific catch and two RBI's were highlights for the Giants, who got nine strikeouts from Lo. Zhang also singled and scored.
The Mariners toppled the Cubs 12-3, despite a powerful double from the Cubs' Austin King and Dustin Chiang's RBI bunt. Cubs' catcher, Akshay Agharkar, tagged out a runner at the plate while Karthik Kribakaran made a nice catch at shortstop. Tyler Johnson also contributed on defense.
Pitchers Sam Lowrey and Stanley Chiang struck out 16 and walked only one batter in pitching the Braves to a 4-4, eight inning tie with the Niles-Centerville White Sox. Alan Jin ignited the offense with a hit, a pair of walks and two runs scored. Chiang, Jin and Chris Desiniotis made fine defensive plays.
The Giants fell to the Yankees 2-0 despite strong play from Tom Scrutton, Tiancheng Cheng, Junaid Mohamed, Eric Zhu, and Kush Patel.
