Fremont Skate Park opens
By Idorenyin Uto-Uko
Get up, get out and roll on over to the Fremont Skate Park, which opened its facility for the spring season on April 1.
"We have a good sized skate community in Fremont," said Phil Hagmann, City of Fremont Spokesperson. "On any given Saturday, you can see over 20 or 30 skaters at the park," he said.
The Skate Park will be open to skaters of all levels and types. "It does not matter if a person is a beginner or veteran, they can still use the park." The non-supervised program is not the first of its kind. There are various skate parks around the nation and in the Bay Area which each have various requirements and hours of operation. The Fremont location requires that skaters wear two knee pads, two elbow pads and a helmet, and will be open noon - 5:30 p.m. during the month of April, noon - 7 p.m. from May to September, noon- 5:30 p.m. in October, and closed from November through March.
