Fiddler on the Roof

The Chabot College Theater Department will present the musical Fiddler on the Roof beginning Thursday, April 10.

Fiddler on the Roof (book by Joseph Stein, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, music by Jerry Bock) is the delightful tale of a family in Tsarist Russia, whose lives are on the brink of political, social, and cultural change. The story revolves around Tevye, a poor Jewish dairyman in the village of Anatevka - his daughters want to marry without his formal permission, and soon many other things about his world begin to shift. The show is both comic and serious, but moreover, Tevye brings the audience into an intimate portrait of who he is and what his life is all about. The show features many well-known tunes, including "If I Were a Rich Man," and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker."

The performance is directed by Rachel LePell, a 15-year Chabot College instructor and recipient of the American College Theater Festival's Excellence in Education award. Music direction is by Eric Hansen.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $5 for children, 10 and under. Tickets will be available at the door, cash only. Groups may receive a special rate by calling (510) 723-6830.

Please note: Due to construction, parking has changed, but there will be assistance available to theater patrons.
