March 26, 2008 > Battles of the bay go Wiggins' way Battles of the bay go Wiggins' way Submitted By Don Jedlovec Photos By Don Jedlovec Tri-City Voice Staff Photographer Don Jedlovec was on hand for the action at the Women's Pacific-Ten Basketball Tournament held March 7 - 10 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. Enjoy a few of his photos. The Women's teams of California and Stanford met three times this year, twice during the regular season and once in the Conference Tourney. Stanford had the upper hand on all three occasions and was particularly impressive in the tournament final. Stanford was led by senior Pac-10 player of the year and the conferences all time leading scorer, Candice Wiggins, while Berkeley native, Devanei Hampton, is a talented and physical post player (center) with the third highest scoring average in California history. At the Tournament, notables included Brandi Chastain, former Santa Clara U. and U.S. Women's National Team Soccer player, and Jennifer Azzi, former Stanford Basketball All-American. They, along with others, hosted a number of activities for the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative (BAWSI).
