National recognition for Notre Dame's literary magazine
President/Principal Rita Gleason of Notre Dame High School in Belmont announced that the school's literary magazine "From Pen to Paper" received a rank of "Excellent" in the 2007 National Council of Teachers of English (NCE) Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines.
Executive Director Kent Williamson wrote, "A total of 453 schools entered the 2007 program. The National Council of Teachers of English congratulates you, the faculty, and students who produced this exemplary literary magazine."
NCTE's Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines (PRESLM) recognizes students, teachers and schools for producing excellent literary magazines. The program's mission is to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines, seeking excellence in writing and school-wide participation in production. The program is listed in te National Association of Secondary School Principals National Advisory List of Student Contests and Activities.
The Editorial Staff was: Co-Editors Rose Friedland and Joanne Guhit, Secretary Alexa Navarro (daughter of Adrian and Maria Navarro of Fremont), and Copy Editor Laura Sanford. Production staff included Dehlia Alcala (daughter of Nancy and Joe Alcala of Newark), Nasim Bazanian, Katie Coleman, Danielle Cooke (daughter of Valerie Cooke of Newark), Rachael Dickson, Elyssa Hawkins, Charissa Lo, Cover Design Nora Mercer, and Mrs. Martine Gullung-Miller served as Advisor. |
