Strut your stuff with black tie and tennis shoes

By Bosky Panjvani

Dressing up for weekend parties is always fun but so is spending "laid back" time in comfortable clothes. Now you can have the best of both worlds at the Black Tie and Tennis Shoes gala. Begin the evening with appetizers and a bid for a trip to Disneyland. Then enjoy grilled salmon or steak followed by delicious tiramisu, and a cup of coffee as you listen to fabulous dance music - and take to the floor - at the Fremont Marriott. The Fremont Exchange club is hosting a fun filled fundraiser on March 15 for the benefit of Child Abuse Prevention Agency (CAPA), Fremont Teen Center and Life Eldercare's Meals on Wheels.

Activities include a live auction where you can bid for a vintage poster of John F. Kennedy's presidential campaign along with gift baskets from Massimo's and Harley Davidson. Spend an eventful evening bidding on antiques from the merchants in Niles and participate in a tennis shoe contest to win a dinner for two.

The music of "Hot Rod" will liven up the atmosphere as you prepare to join the action of live and silent auctions and participate in a cash prize drawing. Exercise your creative talents with your tennis shoes; flaunt them as every eye in the house follows your moves as you parade them as part of the tennis shoe contest. Ladies will vie for the most feminine shoes as they parade their designer talents and men will be awarded most masculine shoes.

Not only can you be a participant, but you can also donate your collectibles for this fundraiser. Everyone is invited to be a part of the fun and frolic.

Tickets are available while they last until March 10 by calling the Exchange Club of Fremont at (510) 494-2077.
