Warwick girls' undefeated season ends too soon
Submitted By Suzanne Daniels
For the Wizards of Warwick Elementary School in North Fremont, it was a fantastic season. This eighth grade girls' basketball team finished the season undefeated, going 5-0. Not only did they play well as a team during their games, but they also practiced the same way. The team started in October and did not have a single player miss a practice all year, as all the girls were very supportive and encouraging with each other throughout the season.
The Wizard girls could not have had such a successful year if it was not for the support of Warwick Elementary School's Principal, Vivienne Paratore, and Vice Principal, Susan Hernandez. The only negative side of this wonderful season is that it ended too soon and the team did not have the opportunity to play more than five games.
Members of the team are Samar Barakat, Ashley Bracket, Katrina Congson, Alexa Daniels, Courtney Giles, Haley Joly, Marwa Lodin, Kim Nelson, Alexis Pagan, Myrissa Pinaula, Sabrina Powell, and Melissa Weikel. The team was coached by parent Suzanne Daniels and by Megan Collier, a tenth grade student at American High School in Fremont. The two have coached this team for the past three years. |
