Union City Parent Project

Submitted By Rick LaPlante

Registration is underway for the spring session of the Union City Parent Project, a program designed to help the parents of strong-willed or out-of-control young people. The 13-week session addresses academic problems, truancy, runaways, substance abuse, violence and gang involvement. It also may be helpful to parents who are not yet dealing with such issues but are concerned that their children don't follow rules or seem to be headed in the wrong direction.

Meetings are Thursdays, from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m., starting March 6 and continuing through May 29. Cost is determined on a sliding scale, and no one is turned away because of financial issues. Childcare is available for a small fee, through Union City Leisure Services.

Registration deadline is Feb. 28. For more information, contact the Union City Police Department Intervention Services Unit at (510) 471-1365.
