How do you get ready for a day out in the snow- by stuffing a jacket and water bottle into your pack as you head out the door? If so, you may e putting your own life, and the lives of others, in unnecessary danger. On Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. David Sands, assistant patrol director and training officer with Pinecrest Nordic Ski Patrol, will teach you to be prepared for the potential hazards of winter backcountry travel.
You'll find out about the latest accident prevention techniques, rescue fundamentals and how to increase your chances of survival, should you get lost, or find yourself facing other unexpected emergencies in the winter wilderness. Whether you're heading out for the day or overnight- on snowshoes, skis or snowboard- come learn about the gear, skills and knowledge essential for safe winter travel.
