Local store provides vouchers to promote recycling
Submitted By Corazon Sumagaysay
Now that the presents have all been unwrapped and the holiday season is winding down, thoughts turn to what to do with all the leftover packaging.
"Many people may have received packages shipped from out-of-town family, friends, and relatives that contain packaging 'peanuts," said Corazon Sumagaysay, owner of PostalAnnex+ of Hayward. "Rather than filling the trash can and creating more landfill, why not recycle them?"
Recycling the peanuts is good for the environment and good for you as well. According to the Plastic Loose Fill Council, close to 45 million pounds of loose fill are produced each year in this country. While some newer forms of packaging peanuts are made from biodegradable contents such as starch, most forms are not biodegradable.
Sumagaysay encourages you to bring in whatever you've got and the PostalAnnex+ store located at 30166 Industrial Pkwy SW will issue a $2 voucher toward your next UPS or FedEx shipment. You can even use this to help pay for any holiday gifts you still have to send. For more information, please contact Corazon Sumagaysay at (510) 487-4017. |
