Celtic Music to kick off the New Year
Submitted By Shirley Sisk
Celtic music from the British Isles and the Medieval and Renaissance music of the European courts, castles and countryside is brought to your doorstep. The Tri-cities League of Volunteers and the Newark Arts Council is proud to present Broceliande. The group features Margaret Davis on vocals, flute, Celtic harp and recorder; Karl Franzen on guitar, octave mandolin, vocals whistle, harmonica, melodeon and hand-drum; Kristoph Klover on vocals, 12-string and 6-string guitar, octave mandolin and oboe; and Kris Yenney on cello, viol, percussion and vocals. Their repertoire includes original arrangements of traditional and early music ranging from driving, danceable Celtic beats to haunting ballads to 4-part a cappella madrigals. The group, performing since 1999, has toured throughout the West Coast and recorded four CD's.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. when you may browse through the fine art of Eva Szore. Complimentary refreshments will be served at intermission.
