Photography classes and workshops
By Mona Shah
The Fremont Art Association will host a variety of photographic classes and workshops at the FAA Gallery in 2008. Local acclaimed photographer Cooksey Talbott will teach the classes. You can get more information from the "Events" section of Talbott's web site at www.cookseytalbottgallery.com or by calling Talbott at (510) 742-0548 for more information, to find the prices for the workshops and to register for any of the following classes.
Photography for Artists: A three-workshop series on photography for painters, watercolorists, sculptors and jewelers.
These classes cover copying flat art and photographing 3D pieces and jewelry using simple inexpensive equipment. The third class covers the Giclee printing process and how to use it to make high quality copies of your work.
Classes are on January 20, February 17, and March 16. All are at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Fremont Art Association Gallery.
Intro to Digital Photography
If you love taking pictures with your digital camera and want them to turn out a little better these two workshops are for you. The class will demystify the camera settings, give some sage compositional advice and show you how to manage, edit and resize your picture files.
Classes start Sunday, February 3, and March 2. 10 a.m. to noon, at the FAA Gallery.
Photoshop for Photography
A three-month series of weekly workshops that will cover in detail the operation of Photoshop CS for beginning through advanced photographers. The basic operations will be covered in depth from simple through more complex uses. Each of the classes will have a number of real life examples to help you understand the concepts presented. Gallery computers will be used to follow along with the examples.
Classes start Thursday January 10, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 12 consecutive sessions, at the FAA Gallery.
The Fremont Art Association Digital Photo Group meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month and is free to FAA members, with a small fee for non-members. Meetings are at the FAA Gallery from 10 a.m. until noon and will either have an educational program or a shared photographic experience/field trip to somewhere nearby.
The Gallery is located at 37659 Niles Blvd., Fremont in the historic Niles district.
