Tri-Cities Titans' Jr. Midget Cheer Team in Nationals

Submitted By Toni Johnson

Thanksgiving weekend was incredible for the Tri-Cities Titans' Jr. Midget Cheer Team who won first place in the Pop Warner Pacific Northwest Regional Division. This week, Dec. 2 - 8, they are competing in the Pop Warner Nationals in Orlando, Florida.

On Friday, Nov. 23, the Titans' Jr. Midget Cheer Team took the competition floor by storm. Titans were the first to perform in their division. They performed their routine flawlessly and anxiously awaited the decision of the judges. While in anticipation of the decision, the Titans' Tiny Mite Cheer team (Vianca Landa, Leticia Rodriguez and Alyssa Rodriguez), who received the distinct honor of being invited to perform at the Regional Competition, wowed the crowd with their cheer and dance routine.

The anticipation felt by the Jr. Midget Cheer Team turned to uncontained excitement when they won first place at the Regional Competition. They are now at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida to compete for the national title in the small, novice division. Members of the Jr. Midget Cheer Team are Justice Toailoa, Kiana Otts, Raquell Contreras, Jamie Curry, Monique Banayat, Alyssa Padgett, Shelby Medeiros, Jessica Strawther and Samantha Gallardo-Ruiz.

Results of the National competition will appear in next week's edition of TCV or you can go to the "Pop Warner" website. The Titans' Jr. Midget Cheer Team will perform on Wednesday morning, Dec. 5 while the Titans' Jr. Midget Football Team played their semi-final game, on Tuesday, Dec 4 against Darlington Braves, Rhode Island. If they won their semi-final game (results not available at press time), they will play the Championship game on Friday, Dec. 7 against the winner of Immokalee Seminoles, Florida and North Long Beach Black Panthers, California.
