Hayward Police Holiday Toy Drive
Submitted By Anne Madrid
Twenty years ago, Retired Police Officer Frank Bowman started a Holiday Toy Drive for less fortunate families in the Hayward. For years, Hayward police employees, their families, community volunteers and some businesses have donated their time and/ or unwrapped gifts or money to buy toys for needy children ages 0-18.
This year, the Holiday Toy Drive will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. in the Hayward Police Department and serve up to 80 Hayward families.
If you would like to volunteer your time for this very rewarding experience, please contact Anne Madrid at (510) 293-1041.
Gifts and cash donations can be delivered to Mary Fabian, Angela Irizarry, Lori Ferreyra, or Anne Madrid at the Hay ward Police Department by Dec. 7. Checks may be written to HPOA and will be used solely for the support of this cause.
Some gifts that the department is still in need of are stuffed animals, coloring books and crayons, watches, hair brush sets, sports equipment, board games and puzzles, batteries, bubble bath, hand held video games, cameras, toy cars or trucks, dolls, books, and models. Please do not donate toy guns, and remember that donations are due by Dec. 7 for this event which helps local families.
