LOV needs your help for a happy Thanksgiving

The Tri-City League of Volunteers (LOV) is planning to serve 4,000 people on Thanksgiving Day at the Newark Pavilion or deliver to homebound citizens of Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and Castro Valley. There is just two weeks to go and to date LOV is in need of the following:
Turkeys - need 250 - to date we have promised or donated 160 - short 90 Hams - need 90 - have NONE Pre-baked pies - need 370 - have 1 - short 369 Instant Potato Mix - need 30 lg. boxes - have 8 - need 22 more Stove Top Dressing mix - need 55 lg. boxes - have 20 - need 35 more Sandwich Bread - need 100 loaves - have none Large #10 cans Green Beans - need 12 more Divided Chinette dinner plates - need 1,200 more Dessert Plates - need 1,100 more Styrofoam Coffee Cups - need 500 Plastic Knives, Forks, Spoons - need 1,000 sets more Oval Aluminum Roasting Pans - need 600 more Garbage Can plastic bags - need 250 Butter - both 1 lb. boxes and individual patties
These are just a few of the many food and supply items needed to help make this a happy holiday for those in need or those that are alone this Thanksgiving. There are also a limited number of volunteer slots still open.

LOV's Community Service Center at 36120 Ruschin Drive, Newark in the former Ruschin School is open to receive donations Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Or you may call for pick up. If you don't have time to shop, monetary donations are very much welcome so that we may purchase what is needed. |
