Juice gets back into the win column
Submitted By Nanette Cook
Saturday, October 6, saw Juice, FC Fremont's Girls Under-12 House League soccer team, battle with the Luna Chicks in a hard fought game that ended in a 1-1 tie. Both teams moved the ball up and down the field but were unable to put the ball into the net more than once. Juice's goal came late in the game on an excellent pass by Rachel Wong to Tori Nelson, who booted the ball passed the Luna Chicks goalie. Emily Hoeven, Claire Gallegos, and Harleen Singh played outstanding defense for Juice.
In further action, on Tuesday, October 9, Juice improved their record to 6-1-1, with a 3-0 victory over the Blue Earthquakes. Juice's scoring started on a goal by Talia Dubo with an assist by Nelson. Juice kept the pressure on the Blue Earthquakes with another goal coming a short time later when Peyton Cook dribbled the ball downfield and passed to Mary Fowler who booted the ball into the back of the net.
The second half saw Juice's Kristi Ocon and Savanna Benedetti make the Blue Earthquakes goalie work hard before Ocon's persistence payed off when she tapped in Juice's third goal of the game. Wong and Alexia Dentoni kept the Blue Earthquakes from penetrating Juice's territory very often with their stellar defense play. Claire Normoyle, in goal, held the Blue Earthquakes scoreless over the first half, while Christina Martin, playing goalie in the second half, made a diving save to preserve the shut out.
