Caution earns shutout in rematch with Arsenal

Submitted By Ed Ohye

It was a typical windy but Sunny afternoon at Fremont's Central Park soccer field #3. You could feel the excitement in the air coming from the two teams getting ready to do battle. The game was a rematch between "Caution" and "Arsenal" who tied in their opening day game.

First goal of the game came from Caution's Alexis Kageyama who fired a shot into the upper left corner of the goal after dribbling the ball from midfield on a break away. The Arsenal offense did their best to retaliate with a goal of their own when Arsenal forward, Michelle Macias, shot from the eighteen yard line. The ball hit the cross bar of the goal mouth and bounced in front of Caution first half goalie, Sara Talooi, who quickly covered up the ball to prevent a goal. Midway through the first half, Caution midfielder, Rachel Heng, made a pinpoint pass to forward, Erica Ohye, who blasted the ball into the upper right corner of the net. A few minutes later Heng again passed the ball beautifully to waiting center forward, Selina Mahesri. After receiving the pass, Mahesri fired a shot across the goal mouth and into the lower left corner of the goal. The goal ended the first half, 3-0, in favor of Caution.

During the second half, Caution offense added to the scoring as midfielder Malika Rajvanshy scored her first goal of the season by dribbling the ball from midfield and shooting a shot into the net from point blank range. However, most of the second half was a defensive battle for the Caution players as they fought hard to keep the ball away from their net. Caution's defense was led by Kamya Raja, in goal during the second half, Nicole Gronski, Christina Kim, Dipti Kanthilal, Rachel Mcmullen, Zahra Sarwary, Niku Jafarnia and Nan Li. They did an outstanding job to preserve the shutout for Caution in a game that was well played by both teams.
