Curlers needed for fall leagues in Fremont and San Jose

San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club (SFBACC) has had an eventful year. Two local curlers attended the Deaflymics and won a silver medal. Our "Mixed Team" won silver at the U.S. Championship. A women's team won the Mountain Pacific Curling Association (MOPAC) playdowns and were the first California Team in the U.S. Club Nationals Championship. In addition, we sent many teams off to bonspiels where several of them had great success in the U.S. and Canada.

On a local level, we had two Winter Leagues, a Spring League, and a Summer League. Now we are going to have two Fall Leagues. It is absolutely amazing how the Bay Area has embraced the sport of Curling.

Would you like to join us? We are curling at two Shark's Ice facilities this fall. The San Jose location is at 1500 S. 10th St., San Jose, CA 95112. The League will run for 11 weeks on Tuesdays from October 2 through December 18. Curling will start at 9:30 p.m. and run for two hours. Shark's ice at Fremont's location is 44388 Old Warmsprings Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538. This league will run on Saturdays from 9:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., October 6 - December 22, 2007. You can join either league or both. As usual the club socializes afterward at Stanley's Bar & Grill in both rinks.

Rates for ice time are $225 for the entire eleven weeks. If you have not yet joined our club, the SFBACC dues are $50. The club provides brooms, sliders, rocks and other equipment. So come out and enjoy. If you have not curled before, wear a warm pair of loose fitting, stretchy pants (jeans are not good), a light jacket, and a good pair of tennis or running shoes. We will provide some quick instruction and have you enjoying yourself curling in a very short time. These are Recreational and highly social leagues. You will meet friends that are great to be around, or better yet, bring some of your friends or family and curl together.

Feel you have to travel too far? Many curlers car pool so you may want to travel that way.

If you do not feel you can make it out every week, we are in need of "Spares." We need about sixteen to make the leagues successful.
