Caution edges Azules Tigres in a shoot out
Submitted By Ed Ohye
It was a cold, cloudy and windy day at Fremont's Central Park field #5, on Thursday evening, the 20th of September as Team Caution and Team Azule Tigris (Blue Tigers) of FC Fremont's Girls Under-16 House League prepared to do battle. It became a high scoring game with Azule Tigris striking first on a goal at the 33rd minute of the first half. At the 35th minute, Erica Ohye of Caution scored on a line drive shot from the right side, receiving assists from Rachel Heng and Dipti Kanthilal. The scoring continued for Caution when, in the 39th minute, Alexis Kageyama stripped the ball away from Azule Tigris and passed it to Ohye for another quick Caution goal, blasting it through the Tigris' goalie's hands. The first half ended with Caution in the lead 2-1.
In the early part of the second half Azule Tigris exploded with three quick goals stunning Caution. Caution responded with left winger Zahra Sarwary scoring on a rocket-like shot into the back of the net after receiving the ball on a corner kick from Kageyama, her second assist of the match. Midway through the second half Kageyama scored her own goal and received assists from midfielders Nicole Gronski and Malika Rajvanshy. The game stayed tied 4-4 until the 79th minute when Kageyama climaxed her stellar game and split the Tigris'defense. With assists from Nan Li and Selina Mahesri, Kageyama hit a wicked shot into the upper left corner of the goal winning the game 5-4. Kudos on a job well done by other Caution players, Rachel Mcmullen, Sara Talooi, Kamya Raja, Niku Jafarnia and Christina Kim. |
