Hot August Niles
By Mona Shah
Hot cars, great food, a 50/50 raffle and live oldies music will be on tap in Niles on Saturday, August 19 when Hot August Niles makes its annual appearance along Niles Boulevard. Although this event is known for classic automotive beauties including early model Fords and Chevys, no car is too old or too new to enter. If you've spent time fixing up your car and treating it like a spouse (and in some cases, better), then this is the place to show off your beloved.
The August 10th, pre-registration deadline may have passed, but it's not too late to register your car. You can still register on the day of the show by 9 a.m. for $25. Plaques will be awarded to those judged as best entries.
Niles shops will be open for business during the show so visitors can combine a day of strolling along the sidewalks of this historic community with visits to the myriad of stores of this historic community. Known for its collectible and antique stores and collectives, Niles offers a wide variety of shops (Native American jewelry, art gallery, glassblowing, tearoom, beadwork, stove shop, and much more) for all interests and pocketbooks.
So whether you feel like munching on a snack as you bask in the sun while admiring the lineup of vintage automobiles or prefer to browse the shops, looking for just the right item, this is the time and place for a memorable day.
