Can you choose the health items at your fast food restaurant?
Submitted By Stefan Harvey and Nicole Stivers
Eating nutritiously at restaurant chains is a crapshoot at best, according to the nation's leading public health expert on menu labeling, Dr. Margo Wootan. At a free public forum here on Thursday, August 2, Dr. Wootan of the Center for Science in the Public Interest will explain why fast-food restaurant chains are fighting statewide to give consumers the information they need to make healthy decisions. The two-hour forum will also address SB120 - landmark legislation that would make California the first state in the nation to require fast-food chain restaurants to post nutritional information on menus and menu boards.
The forum will be held at the Fremont Adult School and begin at noon. Reservations can be made by contacting the California Center for Public Health Advocacy at (530) 297-6000 or by visiting their Website at www.publichealthadvocacy.org.
