Local student to attend leadership summit at Stanford
Chelsi Vining, a Junior at Newark Memorial High School, will join a select group of students representing their schools, communities and states as People to People student leaders. Ms. Vining has been accepted into the People to People Future Leaders Summit in Northern California on August 8 - 17. All student delegates accepted into this program must meet rigorous academic and leadership requirements. Chelsi was nominated by her English Honors teacher, Catherine Hatridge, based on outstanding scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential.
The People to People Future Leaders Summits on law, medicine, leadership, theater and the arts, and international diplomacy bring together outstanding student leaders from around the globe to focus on leadership, team building, community service, college admissions and professional aspirations. Students work on an action plan to make a difference in their communities, develop skills to help the lead tomorrow's world and build their college resumes, while earning academic or service-learning credit.
This year's People to People Future Leaders Summits will convene at Columbia University, Georgetown and George Washington Universities, Johns Hopkins University, University of California, Los Angeles and Stanford. Chelsi has chosen to attend the Stanford summit. Her area of interest is medicine.
Chelsi Vining is the daughter of Walt and Margaret Vining.
